Thoughts from the General Manager

Game on!

Spring season is upon us.  Some teams will be starting this week but most will begin with the opening of Merrimack, which is February 15th.  If not already, you should hear from your managers regarding your start date and seasonal plans.

With middle school and high school soccer, many teams have a partial roster to start but NO WORRIES.  We have already been planning with our coaches to ensure we are providing training to those players that will await the arrival of the balance of their team.  As well, the DOC's will be working diligently with the spring state cup teams to provide support to our staff.

As noted below, we have several players from our elite U18 teams that have secured college spots for soccer.  Congratulations to them!  There is a great deal of sacrifice and work involved with getting the chance to play in college.  All of these players have been with our club since the Division I days and have strived for excellence.  In that pursuit, they have been rewarded with their dream of playing college soccer.  Good luck to all of them!  We are proud of your accomplishments.

See you on the field,

General Manager and DOCO, Huntsville FC

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision.  The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives.  It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.

HFC Players Secure College Soccer Opportunities: The following players from HFC’s Elite teams have been signed with top college programs in the Southeast.  We are very proud of these players and their commitment to achieving their best.  All of these players have made sacrifices to balance the demands of school and athletics in the pursuit of a college opportunity.  We wish them all the best!

Once again Huntsville FC kept players on the ball during the winter months with our Indoor Program.  Training sessions were held on Tuesday & Thursday evenings at the SE YMCA and games were played at the D1 facility on Friday nights.  Our friends at Lincoln County Futbol Club came down on Friday nights for some lively competition among the U8-U12 age groups.  U13-U14 players played several exciting games against the coaches and we even had some parents join in on those games.  Corey Remillard from D1 also brought his talents to the field!  Thanks to all the players who participated and all the parents who came to support players.  We hope you had a good time!!

Attention Soccer Community
Bonita Phillips (mom of three soccer players --Brooke, Claire, and Will ), has been battling Lupus for years.  It has attacked her kidneys doing irreversible damage.  The Drs at UAB, Mayo Clinic and Huntsville have concluded that she must have a kidney transplant.  On Jan 13, we met with the UAB kidney transplant team.

They approved her for the UAB cadaver transplant list with over 3,000 other patients with an estimated 5-8 years waiting.  We are currently seeking a living donor for her immediately.  Why?  Her kidney function is currently below 20% and she must start dialysis any day now.  Doctors at UAB encourage a transplant before dialysis starts because the success rate of the transplant is greater.  The UAB Doctors said that even if someone donates their kidney they still have 5 times the kidney function needed.  What does it take to be a donor?  Bonita is B blood type.  The donor can be either type B or O and in good health.  All of the donor's medical costs are covered.  Any one who is interested in becoming a donor can contact Bonita's Transplant Coordinator at UAB or Bonita or Kendell directly for more information.

Please consider being a organ donor the next time you renew your driver's license.  This could save a life.
